HOLY COW! New Yahoo PPC Feature
I just ran a Yahoo search ( http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=hil...kt1&fl=0&x=wrt) and was very surprised at what I saw on the top fold of the page.
Instead of the traditional Yahoo banner their is now a frame containing the actual web site of a featured advertiser! Talk about a way to get your PPC ad noticed.
Depending upon which data center you pick up you may not see the change. Anyway, here's a screen shot:

It looks like this is actually spyware. The bad news is that I can't find it with Adaware or Spybot.
This one is NASTY - it may take a while to find this. It's not an easy fix like my HOSTS file.

I was able to find out what was happening by right-clicking on an image in the top left corner of this spyware frame. I saw that the image was from secureservicepack.com, then was able to find out where there dll was hidden.
The interesting thing was that neither Adaware, Spybot, HijackThis, Microsoft AntiSpyware, or Ewido was able to pick this up.

Well that's some great news I guess it was only a matter of time before someone wrote something nasty that wouldn't be caught (yet). I'm sure ad aware or spybot will be updated to remove it. Nice catch. It seems corporate America is also embracing spy/malware: http://www.boingboing.net/2006/01/30..._malware_.html So far its primarily only being used on games but if it catches on it could be used in other types of software. Just what you wanted, a piece of software that causes system instability....

I received a call from some stupid Seo company and asked me to go through their technology. When they did the orientation with me, they asked me to go download something to make things work. That, I presume, was what you've got. They claim that their little snippets were downloaded together with tons of programs out there from CNET or Download.com. It was nasty. Took me a while to figure out how to delete it on my computer.

Hhmmm...
Ugly.
I hate spyware!!!!
I went through a very ugly episode myself last year, I erred on the side of caution and boy, was I glad I did.
A little off subject, but have the rest of you been just bombarded with spam solicitations to purchase real estate leads the past few weeks? It seems to be out of control.
My delete finger is getting a little tired, not to mention the phone calls...

Oh yes. It's a daily affair, despite that I'm on the national no call list. No one cares. In the past, by not posting your email address on the web helped deter junk. But these days, I noticed that junk emailers are sending spider like crawlers to fill out on line forms and auto detect the address it was sending to. So, junk mail galore.
