Thumbs up Microsoft Eyes Search Giant In Proposed Takeover!

The NY Post has the exclusive story this morning: Microsoft has once again approached Yahoo!, asking the Sunnyvale based search portal and content destination to come to the table and negotiate a friendly takeover by Microsoft.

The same report values Yahoo! at $50 billion; the interest by Microsoft is said to be serious to the point that world renowned bankers Goldman Sachs are advising Microsoft on the deal.

I shudder to think of what they'll do to Y!. IMO, they still don't get the Internet and after years of having their asses handed to them, one would think they'd bring something new to the table, but they're still stuck in the '90s:

-logged into Hotmail for the first time in 6 months the other day. Took me 15-minutes to reset my password (they wanted state and zip and that was many moves ago) then I'm greeted into the new Live Mail with, wow, retina-burn, flashy banner ads. Cool & new! Additionally, they log you off now "for your safety" after a few hours of not using the app. I need my mail all day long and don't need another task to do. Google got it right in beta.

-MSN Search has never worked right in Opera and "Live Search" is no different: the more button is broken leaving me stuck in plain search and saying 'bye'.

Simple little things that are a matter of pride to some webmasters make a huge difference in the overall perception of quality. If they would pick up the phone and call some of us, they might save a few billion dollars.

Microsoft does not originate brother, they steal and they plunder and then leave the public what is left over.
