There seem to be a lot of real estate website companies and they are getting more and more inexpensive. The question is how reliable and easy to use and the adaptability to your local idx. I just know that I am very dependent on the website my employer provides for us to work with. I would not want to chance any mishaps because my site was down or anything our site is worth lots and lots of $$$$ to us and I still believe you get what you pay for. Granted there are lots of expensive real estate website companies that are not any better than the cheap ones.

I think there is a balance between mass produced websites and custom websites. A mass produced website is often times harder to get natural search engine results as the website may seem similar to others within the same industry and search engines do not like duplicate content.
RealEstate.NET is currently in beta (tech talk for testing) and you can join free as a beta member. Once a full version 1 is released agents / brokers that signup as beta members will be provided with a standard membership free (as a bonus for joining during beta).
While individual websites maybe significantly different from those that are purely template based they do have the disadvantage of being independent from community marketing activities.
RealEstate.NET will be providing members with free inclusion within a real estate search facility so agents / brokers can upload a listing and tick a box for it to appear within our marketing efforts. This will be a free service and there is no additional cost for leads generated etc.

But you can connect your own custom domain names again FREE by following the instructions within your member area.

Seriously... any agent spending money on this garbage is crazy... I don't care if it's only $10/month, this type of site is never going to generate leads.

If an agent is on a tight budget, they are better off with a basic hosting account and a good blog... forget listings... people will be able to search for listings on Realtor.com or any other agent or broker website. What an agent needs first is traffic to their website and a well written blog along with some good links can be SEO much easier then a template site such as this.

Throwing money at a problem is never as good as developing and executing a good plan
