With the amount of real estate agaents today, does anyone feel that their should be more restrictions, or perhaps tougher guidelines, to obtaining a RE license?

I may get bashed for this statement but, I believe that we need to increase the fees we pay per year to about 10k. This would get rid of all the garbage in the real estate industry in my opinion. I think this in turn would help with the black eye that this industry has. The public doesnt preceive us as being a very honest and ethical profession. They believe we are all in it for ourselves and the money and will do or say anything to get that sale.

LVH ...I start off from the first conversation building trust and respect from the clients! I truly can say that I have not ever felt that opinion or perception from my clients! As far as the fees that is about what it costs here in San Diego by the time you buy all the tools after obtaining you license!

You might start off that way but, dont you ever find yourself dealing with the demons from their last experience with a real estate agent.

LVH..I can truly say I have had very little experience with anyone that had anything bad to say about their past experiences! But I do see your point!

I agree there are alot of agents, but higher fees wouldn't necessarily weed out the bad, bad people have money too. Maybe better background checks and stiffer penalties for agents who do bad things.
