Default Hungry REALTORS?

After visiting with hundreds of REALTORS this year it seems to me that those who are hungry are eating. I ask every REALTOR that I meet how is business. The answers are all over the board with confused looks as if they really do not know. If your new to this type of a market it is desperation and I am just trying to hold on till it gets back to "normal". The veterans know the ups and downs of the business and talk about tough times being in the early 80's with sky high interest rates. I find that in this business is eerily similar to the insurance business where I spent most of my sales career. Winners win no matter what the market is doing and whiners whine and always have an excuse. Tom Hopkins said it Best "The business of sales is the highest paid hard work and the lowest paid easy work". Go back to the basics and do what got you to where you are if your happy with the results. Follow up follow up follow up. Make every lead give you a decision one way or another. Leads are more precious than ever and leave no stones unturned. Add extra prospecting time to your life to keep the pipeline full. Be an extra miler. Read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Push hard till you hit you numbers.

Default Re: Hungry REALTORS?

I like this post. Thanks for sharing this information.

Our team here in Minnesota is working harder than we ever have. When the markets are tougher, it just means we all need to dig down deeper and work that much harder. People talk about the real estate markets being in the tank. Our team here in Minneapolis has sold more homes this year than last. We are on pace to close almost 500 homes in this "down" market. These sales are a credit to the hard work of the agents on our team.

With so many homes for sale on the MLS, it is easy to think nothing is happening. However, there is still so much buying activity in our market.

Thanks again for your post! Very uplifting words!

That was a very good post and thank you for the recommendation on the book. You are correct that many whiners and people not used to nhard times, long hours, and actually having to work are going to be hurting in this market. I do not wish bad for anyone, but I really hope this downturn drives some of the wanna be's from the business. Now if we could just figure out how to rid of the bad eggs that hurt our reputations also, we could really get somewhere.

But thank you for your insight. And I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't just so you could add a link. Kudos to YOU!
