Re: 800 or Toll Free Hot Lines Yes or NO???
I used a 1-800 number a few years ago and all it did for me was increase my overhead. I am sure that much of the technology has changed in the last couple of years, but it didn't really help me

I have heard several agents talk about having success with Proquest Technology. Personally I have not used them so I cant give you any more info on them.

Re: 800 or Toll Free Hot Lines Yes or NO???
Ok, the answer is yes and yes. The questions are 1. do they generate leads? They can and do from both ad extensions and sign riders. Hint, most of the calls will be hang ups but a few do leave a message. Even if they don't the system will capture the phone# and name so you have their info. There is a good trick here that works about 20% of the time. DO NOT put the price of the home in your ad or on the message, on the message say something like, do to constant market shifts if you would like current pricing press pound...they are then forwarded to you directly and you try to convert. There are many other ways to try to convert but that is a good one. Secondly and by far the most important reason to use them is the ability to track your advertiseing. All your extensions are mirrored so a message left on ext 100 is the same on 200,300,400 etc. So for magazine you assign 100 series extensions to all your listings, for newspapers, 200, sign riders 300 and 400 for the other mag you may advertise in and so on. Now you can see based on the extension people call on wich vehicle pulls the best for your money. I can explain this better in a pm or phone call but this is the idea. I get a mortgage broker to pay for the system in exchange for the leads and we average about 100 calls a month and get 1 or 2 good leads. The cost to the mortgage broker averages about $45 so a very good tool indeed. Proquest is very good but adtrakker has many of the same features for less. AdTrakker hope this helps.

When I used to do flyers I would leave out the number of bedrooms. People would call to point out my mistake.

Great idea, so then you got them to call...what did you do then to convert them?

We use them -- the biggest benefit we had was the ability to track our advertising costs with the extensions and realized just how big of a waste magazine advertising was.

I had a toll free number when i first started my business online, but soon found out that it was a waste of money. I guess it makes your website and business seem more professional though.

Re: 800 or Toll Free Hot Lines Yes or NO???
I have used an 800 number since 1996. It's always been a great source of leads and business for me. I use a different extension on every different media source and have found that homes magazines, sign riders and flier calls are the best. In a slow market it typically generates 75 to 100 calls a month. However, I've had years where I was receiving as many as 400 calls per month. I use Proquest and love them. In 2006, my hotline generated 8 additional transactions with very little prospecting, last year was lower. However, my listing inventory was lower also. In 2005, I prospected faithfully with the hotline and generated 22 sales as a direct result. My return on investment has always been great.

Re: 800 or Toll Free Hot Lines Yes or NO???
SellFoN dot com is going live. We have been in beta testing for 3 months and we are ready.
SellFoN is a web based lead generation system that revolves around a toll free number. It is unfair to call it a “Call Capture” system since it is so much more.
