The names are ok but IMHO because they are .Net I dont think have any great value but thanks for sharing. Someone might be interested here.

Quick question, why is it that .net is not in as high demand as .com. Is it b/c of something like name recognition? It seems to me that .net is common and used quite a bit. Can somebody help me out?

Good point Missouri, I have no idea why that is? Mack or SDRE will porbably know and hopefully be able to educate us. I have often wondered the same thing, becasue of the dramatic difference in volume!

I would venture to say that it is because of name recognition. The average consumer IMHO associates a domain name with .COM for the most part.

Imagine you have a domain called lasvegasrealestate.net you put a lot of hard work in to it and use it in your marketing. Most people will remember the lasvegasrealestate part but will most likely forget the .NET and type in .COM
I am sure the person who owns .COM appreciates you advertising for them. Just my 2 cents.

I've got a domain that I'm thinking of selling - www.hiltonheadfsbo.net.

Originally I was going to market local FSBO listings, but with a busy SEO firm I did not have time to market the site. Instead, for a while I used it as an SEO test site.

Here are some of the rankings:

Google
Hilton Head FSBO - #1
Hilton Head For Sale By Owner - #20

MSN
Hilton Head FSBO - #1
Hilton Head For Sale By Owner - #1

Yahoo
Hilton Head FSBO - #11
Hilton Head For Sale By Owner - #48

The site has an easy to use listing system, member database, and mailing list. Unfortunately, I had a server/db problem and lost all but 15 names in the database.

It's been over a year since I built a link to the site. With a little bit of link building it wouldn't take much to get to #1 all around. Actually, maybe I'll build a few links to get it to #1 all around, then sell it for more. I'll also set up an Adsense account and see what kind of $$$ it brings in. In the meantime, if anyone is interested, send me a PM.

Your are absolutely correct LVH.

.COM owners benefit a great deal from the effort of .NET owners.

The general public will always default to .COM when they don’t have a Domain bookmarked or written down.

Same applies with owners of Domains with hyphens. The public often forgets or simply omits the hyphens. Example: lasvegas-realestate.net can easily be confused with lasvegasrealestate.com.

When dealing with the general public always use the K.I.S.S. rule!

Yes, it is just known that .com's are more popular and prevelant than .nets. How that originally occured, I could not tell you!! Does anyone know?

I agree that name recognition is the main reason behind .com's being in higher demand. I mean realistically, wouldn't you remember a .com rather than a .net web address?
