One of our agents has a business associate (not in the industry) that is a steady source of referrals. How would you reward them for the business.
You want to be fair, but don't want to insult them and also not violate any regulations.

Could they be paid a "Marketing Fee"?

I think that a marketing fee would be your only option, if any...I am not sure how the leaglities work. Have you asked your broker?

I would have to agree with LVRE. Definetely go to either your broker or a lawyer before you start paying anyone anything!!

It really depends on the state which you practice real estate. Some referral fees are legal as long as the person receiving the fee is performing a duty for that fee. The other way to do this legally is if this person is referring several clients to you and it is iilegal to pay such a fee have them setup a company and invoice you for these leads they provide you with. The best suggestion though as suggested by the other members here I would talk with my broker or contact your state real estate division.

I agree, you should check your state laws and with your broker, I think there are legal ways to set up some return for your referrer.
