In the past, there were individual pages for each state that all connected to a master page then back to the home page.

While the individual state pages are still there (at least they were a few weeks ago) they did not connect back to the home page.

Now there are select links on one page, but most of the links that were on those 50 State pages are not on the new, single links page (area links).

Is this a new way to get one-way links? Or am I missing the way that these individual state pages tie back to the home page?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! All our Main Nav links are flash which for some reason wasn't showing up. They will come back once the .swf has been sourced. It is being worked on right now. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, it is greatly appreciated.

Then why did some of your nationwide real estate links - links that are not other REW client sites - make it to your area links page (http://www(dot) edkirkland(dot)com /area_links.html) and others were left orphaned on the indovidual state pages?

While your header navigation structure is Flash, the remainder of the nav structure is not (i.e. the gray nav box that also has "Area Links").

Actually the answer given above is incorrect.

I believe what you are pointing out is that there is not a homepage link to the links directory main page from the homepage, is this correct HHI?

If so, I think you might just have missed it.
If you look under "Ed Kirkland also services these other Emerald Coast Real Estate Areas:" on the right hand side, you will see a link that says "Destin Condos Resources" that links to http://www.edkirkland.com/resources/ that link has been there for well over a year, feel free to use the wayback machine to verify.

Now there is ALSO linked from the homepage under "Area Links" from the main navigation to http://www.edkirkland.com/area_links.html which was the original links pages, before we switched to state directories. We wanted to have links from the homepage to both spots so that we gave our linking parnters the most benefit from the exchange.

Anyways does that answer your question?

As for the member above, our link managers are to evaluate quality and relevance of site, not whether a site competes with our clients, we are happy to link to our competition. Also our link managers will never be told that they cant link with someone because of anything to do with my personal feelings good or bad for that person. We are intersted in good real estate links for our clients.
