Default Live Chat for Home Page

I am thinking of getting a live chat box on my site, so that when I am sitting in front of my computer or have my instant msg on phone on I can respond to future clients questions. Does anyone have any informaiton on the company - Meebo?
"This widget allows live chatting . It's like any Instant Messaging such as MSN except you can embed it in your website. So if you sign up for Meebo, you can use your msn login to chat with people who are already on your contact list AND to those who are messaging you from your website!" -by Sharon Chung

It works. It is a great way to be a first responder to those looking to buy or sell real estate. For those that are not aware something like 78% of people looking to buy or sell real estate will use the first person that responds to their questions. This is just one of many tools you can use.

I second that LVH.

People if given the opportunity to chat will chat more often than not. Forums should have chat rooms but many think it would negate the usage of posts.

Funny, I just removed a meebo from my home page this morning. I didn't like that I had a hard time customizing to my "look". In two months I never had anyone say anything. My IRE site uses just a little chat button that opens into a boldchat interface. Again in 2 years no one ever used, of course you have to have it up all the time as well which is also a pain in the ass... but I like... I guess... I would consider getting rid of it on my index page as to eliminate a home page one-way outbound link for SEO reasons.

I also have been wondering if live chat would be worth looking into.

Deuce, do you have a link to where I can get more information about how it works, monthly fees and all that kind stuff?

There are a lot of services that do this. The two mentioned here are Boldchat Live Chat, Live Help, and Live Support for Websites & meebo.com.

I have had bold chat on some of my sites, it drove me round the bend hearing the ring tone every 5 minutes and ended up removing it!

It is a good idea if you have one person sat down all the time in front of the computer with nothing else to do but it can distract you from what you really should be doing, selling houses!

I wish I had that problem! Especially since I pretty much do sit down in front of the computer all the time... only I am selling houses! and love it!

Nobody ever clicks on my chat... I'm thinking of implementing it into my future custom idx...

Question Re: Live Chat for Home Page

I too have thought of adding this but have often felt if they are that serious they should be willing to pick up the phone.

Anyone else have experience using these live messaging or chat systems?
