How much income is possible in real estate sales?
I'm a first year agent and I'm wondering what an average income is for real estate agents. Obviously there are agents who sell nothing and those who sell hundreds of homes. Does anyone have a link to a national average Realtor income?

If there is a national average, I would be ineterested to hear it as well. I think that a lot of the numbers depend on the area because average home prices vary based on area.

Its my opinion that you can make as much as you want. If you have the work ethic and put in the hours and never take "no" for an answer, you can easily make a 6 figure income. It might take time but its attainable, but if you have to work at it.

Yes, I also feel that you can make as much as you work for! In many ways your market makes a difference, due to sales price and so forth, but overall, you have the ability to make as much money as you wish

The sky is the limit! Although that may sound funny, it is very true. The more you work and focus, the more you are able to make! It's not easy, but it is possible

Re: How much income is possible in real estate sales?
It's all about work and strategic marketing. There are no easy tricks or quick roads to making yourself a success...be available, return calls in a timely manner, and be honest. You will soon get a good reputation and referrals.

Re: How much income is possible in real estate sales?
I have heard that the longer you are in the business, the easier it gets because of repeat/referral business. Repeat/referral business will not happen unless you take care of your clients the first time. Never worry about how much you will make today, worry about how much you make the day after tomorrow. Plan for the worse, hope for the best, and everyday keep on trying to do more than you did yesterday.

I think got a good income. As a self-employed independent contractor, you first need to know your personal expenses to maintain your lifestyle. By spread sheeting these expenses and even seasonalizing them if necessary, you will be able to better determine what you need to do in your business to generate the necessary income.

Re: How much income is possible in real estate sales?
I can't see the latest average income of Realtor but according to this article by Realtor.org
The median REALTOR® income was $42,600 in 2007, down from $47,700 in 2006. In recent years, the typical member’s income had been diluted by a large growth in membership, and income trended down since peaking in 2002. Members licensed as brokers earned a median of $65,200 in 2007, while sales agents earned $31,000.
