We jumped to $2.99 here in the Hilton Head area today. It will probably be $3.25 by the weekend.

FWIW, the price increase is not because of lack of oil. It's because of lack of refining capacity to convert oil to gas. We were barely keeping up with demand before the hurricane.

You have to wonder why - with the increase in cars on the road - that we have not built a new refinery in over 20 years?

I guess the oil companies decided it was best to keep their profits. In fact, over the past few quarters the major oil companies have had 30% to 50% increases in profits. That's about the same margin as the increase in the price of gas. Hmmmmmmmm....

Are gas prices here in Florida are about the same as they are in Las Vegas. Now ask yourself this question. Las Vegas or should I say Nevada has the second highest gas tax in the country, Hawaii is number 1. The gas tax in Las Vegas is 50 cents per gallon.

Now why would gas say in South Carolina or Florida where you are closer to the refineries be more expensive. Its easier to get here less pipline to travel and yet as expensive as Las Vegas and Hawaii.

People we are being RIPPED OFF I would suggest that we send this type of information to our state representatives and ask them why. Until we all stand up and have our voices heard we will always be ripped off by those we allow to take advantage of a consumer need. The cost of a barrel of oil has increased 60% in the last year. Dont you think its time to ask why and ask the people that we vote in to office. Rant Off...

LOL I think I will still hang on to it. I heard however on the news and after speaking with some friends in Atlanta that some places there are at $6 per gallon. Plus I paid cash for the Hummer so its paid for and no rush to get rid of it. The insurance isnt to bad so its almost like having a payment with the cost of gas.

Today we hit $3.05 for premium today. The rise in gas cost will hurt a lot of businesses and this includes real estate. Now driving out a tank full of gas to ride a buyer around will cost if gas continues to rise about $100 or more every tank full. This will cause a lot of agents to either stop taking buyers out or cause them to leave the business cause they cant afford it.

I personally see the real estate industry losing a lot of agents because of the gas prices. However I also see a lot of agents increasing their own production because of this as well.

We went up to $3.29 a gallon overnight. I guess they are hoping to soak whatever tourists decide to travel here this weekend.

$2.99 for premium? That's a bargain. Our $3.29 is for regular unleaded. Premium is at $3.69.
