Default Photo Printers?

Two observations:

1. When did photo printers become so inexpensive?

2. It's hard to find a printer that is only a printer and not an all in one machine.

I'm trying to find a good, easy to use 8.5x14 photo printer for my 80 year old father in law, and it's not that easy. If there are too many buttons and options he will get frustrated and not use it.

I have a Canon IP6600D and it's a great photo printer, but they don't make that model anymore.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Now I know why photo printers are so cheap. They companies now make their money on propietary ink cartridges.

They mad the ink cartidges much smaller, and now include a microchip on them so they won't accept generic cartridges.

Thumbs up Re: Photo Printers?

If you get a chance check at the (All In One Printer) Kodak Model C7200 its Really a nice piece and very inexpensive. Produces great Photos and even has card slots for your Cameras. Very easy to use!!!

Thanks. I'll take a look at that one. The only thing that concerns me about Kodak is that their software is usually a memory hog and short on instructions. I need something very easy for my father in law to understand.

Question Re: Photo Printers?

HHI...did you ever find the right printer for your father?

If so what solution did you come up with?

There are some great HP solutions out there as well!

We bought my father in law a Canon all-in-one fax, copier, printer, and scanner. He uses the printer but still takes his paperwork to the local office supply store when he needs to fax something

Actually, we not only showed him how to use it but we also took the time to make him a large print cheat sheet to cover the basic functions. Unfortunately, Ed's age is catching up with him and his memory and comprehension are not quite as sharp as they used to be.

But he does use the printer and loves to print out new photos of his grandson.
