MSN After using data from 3rd party vendors, MSN recently launched its own data base driven search engine. Owned by Microsoft, MSN is currently ranked #3 for search volume but has the ability to take over the #1 slot.

Default MSN Results

I recently started a Bradenton Real Estate website. It is about 95% completed but I started the website in June. I am already #3 for "Bradenton Real Estate" and doing well with a few other search phrases.

On one hand I like this for obvious reasons. On the other hand, I don't like it because I imagine that the top search results will change frequently with the onset of new websites. I have been doing well in Google for a long time on my other site www.thesarasotamls.com. It is hard to rank well in Google and it seems like once you get there you tend to stay there. There is comfort in Google in that new sites will not get to the top in 4-5 weeks.

Also, Bradenton is not an area heavy with tech savvy agents so that may be one factor in why I got to #3 within a few weeks.

Congratulations on the new Bradenton Real Estate website making #3 in MSN Marc.

It does seem that the MSN SERPs have settled down a bit so hopefully you will stay there or go higher.

You are correct about the stability of Google. Once in the Top 10, you stand a good chance of staying there for a while.

Getting there in Google in a highly competitive market such as Las Vegas is much tougher than Sarasota IMHO but is just as appreciated I bet.

Even google will surprise you every once in a while. The one to watch is MSN, king of the world one day, dropped into the basement the next. MSN still has some major issues to iron out. IHMO

Like maybe getting rid of several cloaking sites Jade. This is the one major problem I see with them right now is allowing the use of blackhat tactics for seo. We all know who is doing this in the Las Vegas real estate market. it starts with a R has the middle letter of O and ends with the letter B...lol I had to do that

VegasMack you already have one site in the top 10 with google for the most popular search, Las Vegas Real Estate. Then you go and design all those other sites. Its bad enough I have been stuck between #11-13, www.Las-Vegas-Nevada-Real-Estate-Relocation.com, so hopefully your sites aren't going to push me back further. Let me bask in the top 10 for a while before you get all your other sites in the top 10, please.

Default While I Was Out

Hi Tony,

Sorry for the delayed response.

I had a site in the Top 10 of Google. Unfortunately, while I was in the hospital for a couple of months the Jagger update occurred and that site (as well as all of my sites) fell from grace due to neglect.

The other sites are all individual Agent sites (as is yours) and are optimized for KW phases other than “Las Vegas Real Estate”. In a perfect world there would be only one agent per agency (me LOL) but with 6 -8 thousand new residents moving to Las Vegas monthly something tells me that a few clients would go unattended.

The REMAX Agents that I work for are as competitive as you are with each other. Fortunately, they all have different goals and also realize they can not rank for all 10 top positions in all 3 major search engines.

I see that MSN has made some major changes while I was away. My preliminary observation is that while I am not ranking as well as I would like the results look fairly relevant.

I do see congratulations are in order Tony as you are moving upward in the search engines.

Keep up the good work.

Sometimes I wonder how popular some posts are and how relevant they are. I have seen quite a few that are pretty old. But it’s amazing how you can still learn some things that are still relatively important.
