MSN After using data from 3rd party vendors, MSN recently launched its own data base driven search engine. Owned by Microsoft, MSN is currently ranked #3 for search volume but has the ability to take over the #1 slot.

Question Marketing Strategy for MSN!

Ok Bill,

You have really done a great job on improving relavency over the past year! Now you just need to drive traffic to MSN...

Here is an Idea that would really bring traffic to MSN...If you were to offer 1 Million Dollars in a weekly give away for random searches that would most definetly drive traffic to your new and improved search engine...

Default Marketing Strategy for MSN!

What an awesome concept Al.

MSN has most definitely improved their relevancy on searches this year, and with a hook like a weekly Million dollar give-a-way on a random search, MSN would absolutely be swamped with new traffic.

If MSN were to launch something like this while Google was having problems with their new algorithm, MSN could quickly move into the #1 slot.

Advertising would increase on MSN to where the weekly cash give-a-way would not even be missed.

Bill needs you on his marketing team Al!

Thumbs up

Thanks Mack... the great thing about it is that it wouldn't take a lot of time or resouces and like you said the additional revenue would more than pay for the weekly payout!

As far as the weekly winner they would be announced every week but could have visited any time the week before...Make it like Publishers Clearing House except being Annual its weekly! I can promise you this could it would change the future BIG TIME!

That is an AWESOME idea. This is better than playing the Deal or No Deal gig over the phone. Way to go, Al.

By the way, there seems to be quite a bit of shuffling with the MSN algorithm. I lost all my no.1 positions. Any effect on you guys out there?

MSN is BY FAR the most relevant search engine nowadays. Maybe Google should stop worrying about spending 900 million dollars on a 3 year deal with MySpace(thanks Tony ) and instead pump that money into researching how to make their results come back with websites that rank for their content, not just longevity on the web! I'm tired of seeing these crappy websites built in FrontPage in 1996 ranking #1 across the board when they are IMPOSSIBLE to navigate through.

I have to agree with you 100%. IMHO age does not mean it is the best and until google understands this it will be their downfall. Most of these old sites have outdated content and are never updated with new information very often. They rely on creating backlinks but dont offer their visitors good information which can be misleading for consumers.
