Default Ultimate IDX Revisited

As all our Members are aware frobn has been working on a new IDX system as we have as well.

This will give our Members a choice of what is hoped to be the best IDX solutions available.

As a REALTOR® I personally have found most IDX systems fall seriously short of expectations.

It is difficult to say for sure, but we hope to start testing our system within a week and would love to hear some feed back.

Our demo city will be San Diego but should give our Members a feel for the program regardless of where they are located.

I will keep you posted.

VegasMack, how is the IDX that your working different from others. I have seen many IDX's and your post is right, they are lacking crucial tools. Can you explain what it is that your IDX will offer that others don't?

What do you feel is missing or should be done better?

From the Realtor side we need a better back end system...and it needs to be stable...

Most of the IDX systems that I have seen all have 1 or 2 good features but I’ve seen none with all the features I like.

I suppose the closest that comes to meeting expectations would be Bird View. The drawback on Bird View is the presentation of the Search, Results and Details pages clearly are not the same as the REALTORS® website.

Bird View and IDX Pro also have load time issues from time to time that can be extreme. I doubt that a visitor will wait for 1-3 minutes at Broadband speed for search results. They eventually pop up but the visitor has long since left the site thinking it was locked up.

I have also noted that there seems to be no flexibility in the programming of the backend. They are set up for a single Agent, Office or Team will little or no options.

I am anxious to see both IDX systems and compare it to what is out there currently.

Any idea as to a time frame?

Brandon

Stability is a major headache. Systems like open realty and most commercial listing management/IDX applications were built on aging code concepts. I believe applications built as objects with (tested) CRUD (insert, update, read (get/select) and delete) functionality provides the best stability.

Our IDX is ready. We had a server crash where we were running a demo with just under 60,000 listing. I should have it back in a few days.

I am interested in talking to developers who want to add IDX to their portfolio.

We have obviously missed our projected September 1st launch date due to the addition of several new features.

We hope to have testing complete by November 1st and be able to deploy at that time.

I will keep you posted.
