I think drop shipping is a helpful tool. I just sent out a few promotional e-mails to local agents, and I mentioned that the gift can be delivered to their client during the closing, even if the agent is not present. Or it can certainly be delivered to a home address.

I think gift baskets are a good idea for Agents and recommend that our Agents do things like that.

Sharon is the best at that kind of thing. She takes a basket to the homeowners about a week or two after the purchase. She has a high rate of repeat business and it is attributable to things she does like this.

As far as marketing to Agents here are my suggestions:

a) Make an appointment with the Broker in larger offices. Ask if samples, flyers and business cards can be left in the break room for the Agents to see.
b) Almost every agency has a bulletin board for the Agents. Post flyers on the Agent Bulletin Board.
c) Go to the local Board of REALTORS®. Get permission to post your flyers on their Bulletin Boards.
d) Get permission from the local Board of REALTORS® to make presentations in their weekly or monthly meetings. Also attempt to make a presentation to Agents becoming REALTORS® during their orientation classes.

Hope this helps.

does the Board allow for marketing presentation during the orientation classes. If so I would love to do that.

Yes Neal many boards allow that.

Vendors often cater lunch.

I’m surprised you have not tapped into that.

I like presentations during Orientations for both the Local Boards and the Larger Agencies. Many of your larger Agencies require an orientation to a new office even if they have been in the business for decades.

Whether becoming a new REALTOR® or a new Agent in an office orientations are fertile ground for vendors due to that fact everyone there is looking for a better way to conduct business.

FWI – Real Estate schools also allow vendors to make presentations.

You are most welcome Lana.

The advice was self serving however. Not only are my suggestions to help you explore fertile prospects in our industry, they are prospects (Agents) that generally are looking for ways to start or improve their business. Yours is such a product IMHO.

Good luck and hope it helps. Please come back and share any success stories on the advice you were given in this thread.

So far I have not been able to get into sales meeting at the real estate office, but I'll keep trying. If I could only get past the office managers...

But I took the advice some of you offered and came up with a few "practical" baskets. I just sold one "gift basket" (if I can call it that) which consists of a garden tote with garden tools and is filled with gourmet snacks. The gift is useful in many ways, so the real estate agent who saw it in my e-mail really liked it and ordered it as a closing gift.

Hi Everyone...I'm new here and couldn't help comment on this thread. Lana, I always give closing gifts to my clients...usually wait a couple weeks and drop it off in person. It gives me a reason to make a connection with them again. I try to personalize the gifts to the client. Sometimes I spend hours searching for something.

The gift baskets is a nice idea. I would definitely put together a flier with the various options to choose from...ways to personalize, packaging and pricing. Many people may want delivery as well. Do you have a "realtor friend"? We have realtor open houses here. When a new home is listed, realtors run around to take a look at the inventory....this happens on designated days. You could have a basket or two there...maybe a drawing from the realtor's cards to see who wins the gift basket. The realtor can advertise the prize which will entice realtors to come to the realtors open (we like free stuff...especially food) Its a way to get the word out and have them seen. Good luck with it!
