Marketing opinion--It doesn't have to be so bad
I know as agents, you are extremely loaded down. You probably ask, "when would I have time for marketing. I have enough going on." It's been stated many times how important marketing is. Don't let it slip through your fingers! Your success depends upon it!
Keep in mind that there are those who have time for marketing, those who enjoy it, those who will make your marketing life a lot easier. Don't wear yourself out, ask for help.
I know what you're thinking.......if it costs money, I might as well do it myself. Do a costs analysis. Your time IS money. The time you spend marketing could be the time you spend on your clients and on your needed rest. Not to mention, the growth of your company could very well pay for your marketing expenses.
THINK ABOUT IT

I think that this business is all about balance. A good Realtor should be allocating time to marketing, client follow up, organization, building their referral base, etc. From my experience here in the Las Vegas home market, balancing and not putting too much emphasis on any one aspect has worked wonders!

Your right, Las Vegas Real Estate, but a lot of people have trouble balancing or organizing even in this business. Balance and organization can be considered a special skill. Especially, when a business is growing rapidly and you want it to continue at that pace.
I think that many get caught up in the idea that they can do it all, when they really can't. You would be amazed at the amount of calls I get from people who admitted that they had trouble delegating tasks to others because they felt they could "handle it." Then, after they realized that they were run down and just couldn't take it anymore, they made the decision to call me. Why would anyone wait until they got to that point? When you wait until your run down, your business starts to suffer and so does your health.
You must be a pretty balanced person, huh? Or you just love being ultra busy like me!

I agree Las Vegas Real Estate, a good, not to mention successful agent, should be balancing their efficiently and not focusing all of their energy into any "one" asect of their business. I try and do this by writing down goals, typing checklist, reviewing my accounting, and so forth.

If you can, delegate tasks or jobs to people with the proper skill set that can deliver when asked to perform.
That will make you more productive by providing you the freedom to focus on your areas of specialty.

Good point ED. I think that having an assistant, someone who you can count on to get things done in which you do not have the time to do. I know that here in the Las Vegas real estate market I have always used an assistant!

Re: Marketing opinion--It doesn't have to be so bad
I think that many people have chosen to go into real estate because they like pretty houses or they saw shining money signs just over the rainbow. Being in real estate is just as hard as running your own business because it is.
There should definitely be some sort of disclaimer to warn the innocent that it actually takes work, and maybe even some thought outside the box.
