Your picture here.
I was just wondering whether you need your face on every piece of your marketing? it appears that all of the successful real estate agents in my area have their professional photo on their business cards, bus bench ads, etc... But I must admit that I don't know whether ALL of the successful agents have their photo on their ads. So, I was just wondering how you felt about it.

Your picture is not that important at all. Brand yourself as an expert in your field - not a face.
FYI, that's why most real estate agent web sites fail. They are full of "warm fuzzies" and pictures of kids, puppies, and kittens.
In today's society, prospective buyers don't care about that crap. All they want to know is how you can save them money and keep them from getting screwed on a deal.

There used to be an agent in my area who has a giant nose and he used it to its full advantage by advertising it. It's all about recall and people remember his face. He was very successful. So in some cases, I believe there's some advantages to show your face.

On that note Portland RE, There is a very successful agent here in Vegas. He has the worst profile picture advertised on every other bus stop. I used to think wow, who would buy a house from that guy, while it was leaving me with a lasting impression.

I just got photos for a logo and other marketing items for my new company and I was really getting away from photos because my hair changes too much. I've had red hair for 3 yrs. now & am finally ready to lighten up again. I had been passing around business cards with me as a blonde until I printed them up without any picture. Just got them when I decided to switch companies.

I suggest you take a look at what a half dozen highly successful agents in your area are doing and then follow their lead.

Well if ugly meant more sales in Vegas, I would have been the Top Producer and would be able to charter a jet back and forth between Vegas and Missouri.
One of my favorite pet peeves in real estate is business cards with a 20 year old glamour shot.
My last showing in Las Vegas was at an open house. I past a nicely dressed lady coming out of the home in her late 40s or early 50s. Once in the home, I picked up a flyer and the listing agents business card. The agent on the card was a hot looking 30 year old and looked familiar but I could not place her.
You guessed it; the agent on the card was the same lady I passed going into the home and the Sellers were the ones that told me I just missed the Listing Agent.
If you do decide to put a photo on the card, dress as you would on a showing. If you wear a suit and tie fine, but if you normally wear a nice shirt and slacks, take your picture that way.

I know what you mean about people using a 20-year-old glamour shot. Met one agent who just had a botox treatment. I could tell that she was "trying hard" to smile naturally.
