Search Engines actually like to see links pointing to other pages of your website aswell as the homepage. If you focus all your linkbuilding on just the homepage, the search engines are going to think that's the only important page on your website. If you do some linkbuilding on all of your webpages, the search engines will see those other pages as being important and this will impact your search engine results. I know this because I tried it, and it has helped dramatically.
