Default HUD enforces RESPA’s office rental policy in $150,000 settlement w/Metropolitan Title
The Michigan-based title company owned by First American has agreed to fork over $150,000 on charges that it violated RESPA’s office rental regulations by paying brokers kickbacks disguised as conference room rental fees — fees which HUD alleged were based on rates that were “substantially higher” than their fair market value.
