Yep, I should have saved a screen shot of that #2 position. I'm now #11. However, I was never in the top 1000 before so I'm not too sad, but what a tease!

Google has the computing power and technology to spider, index, and recalculate SERP's much quicker than other SE's.
If your KW is in an active segment (i.e. new sites or updated content on your site or competitor's sites) then you will see daily - if not hourly - movement. As the changes to pages in your competitive set slow down and as the latest SERP's propogate across all of the datacenters, only then will the SERP's stabilize.
If your own pages keep bouncing up and down 10+ positions in the SERP's then it usually means you have more SEO work to do on your site. Your site is vulnerable to changes made by your competition.
More often than not, instability in your SERP's is related to your own and your competition's SEO efforts - not Google algo changes or tweaks.

I noticed yesterday that the serps for Florida for the city I am targeting had changed and also that google had deep crawled and indexed every page for my two new sites.
I would say that we are no more than a week to 10 days away from a BL update.

I hope you are right about the pending Google update Wayne.
This next one should be interesting to say the least. With all the changes that MSN and Yahoo have made to their algorithms lately I hope Google remains solid and continues putting out SERPS with high relevancy.
