Arrow Google SiteMap & dynamic links........

Hi All,
I have recently automated my site with a php database, and a lot of the pages that used to be static are now generated dynamically, BUT, the static pages are redirected via the htaccess file. Well, anyway, I have a sitemap uploaded to Google now that has the static pages in it, and I just re-generated the sitemap here, and of course, it shows only the dynamic pages. Is it smart for me to upload this new sitemap? Should I just keep the one that's already on google?

I know eventually, when I add new pages, I will have to upload the one with the dynamic ones...but for now, what do you think?

Regards,
Rob

I would submit the new sitemap.

I would go ahead and submit the sitemap. If you have more that a few hundred pages, Google will take sometime to get through the list. Also the more often you tell submit new content to Google the better. The more often that Google finds new content, the more often it will scan the site.

ALSO...is there a limit on the amount of URLs your sitemap can have, according to Google?

To my knowledge there is no limit to the amount of pages by Google in your sitemap.

There are limits on some sitemap generating software.

Per the Google guidlines "A Sitemap file can contain no more than 50,000 URLs and be no larger than 10MB when uncompressed."

However, you can have a Sitemap index file with 1000 sitemaps. So the total URLs you can list is 50,000,000 with a max size of 10,000MB.

I don't know about you but I'm worried about running out of space.
