When you spam people with details of a link scam, what do you expect will happen?

This time G decided to be nice to the sheeples and go after the cult leader shepard. The agents dodged a bullet.

Even if Google does not penalize the “sheeple” there will be a significant loss of links and time for REW’s clients when MC drops the directory and or blogs. Not to mention all of the blog comment spam.

As I stated on Greg Boser’s Blog I do not believe Morgan Carey’s clients are blameless. Rewarding bad behavior really does promote more bad behavior. Anyone involved SHOULD be penalized IMHO.

There is more than enough information out there on Morgan Carey’s ethics (or lack thereof) for grown men and women to a make an educated decision. Not only are the majority of his clients fully aware of his practices they will defend him at any cost in an ill-advised effort to suck up and make a few extra brownie points. Once they are of no further use or their sites are banned he will get yet another batch of REALTORS® and start the process over again.

For all you Kool-Aide Drinkers that will attack me over this post: I am not ignoring you. I have a cold and will get back to you soon. I promise. This gives you plenty of time to get your ill-intentioned fictional post written about how terrible of a person I am for discussing any minor flaws your SEO God may or may not have.

So now REW and their clients will begin removing all of their reciprocal links in whatever link scheme they are using now, giving these sites one way links. This is nothing new with REW, as in the past their client sites continuously drop recips or orphan older recip link pages.

Will REW ever recover in Google? That's hard to say. But no matter what they do in the future they have already painted a great big target on themselves. If they try and do anything shady either Google will catch it or someone will report it.

REW is not alone in trying to develop quick fix link strategies. Plenty of other companies do this as well. But the truth is that good SEO takes a lot of work and a lot of patience. Quick fix methods will eventually be exposed and penalized.

On the other hand, I am concerned about the position that Google is taking on paid advertising on web sites. I do see the need to go after directory sites and similar schemes, but there are also millions of legitimate sites that rely on paid advertising to generate revenues.

Google says the way around this is to use the rel=nofollow tag. But for some sites that means a substantial rewrite of code. And don't forget about the millions of web sites that will never even hear about the rel=nofollow.

I haven't had any of my commercial sites hit by this link selling penalty, but as a precaution I have been rewriting a lot of code.

It is called link farming. Creating a big pool of websites that all link exchange to each other to trick the Google algorithm for all of them to rank higher. Google hit them for selling links in their directory but at the same day, hit many of their clients' content link exchange pages. It was a warning shot.

I have been a victim of these guys too. Reading this, I have realized that i had made a "contextual link exchange" through REW a few months ago. I checked now and they removed all their reciprocal links.
So now, I was stuck with a bunch of one way links going to their clients and I just noticed that. Can't believe such an unethical action.
I am more than glad that they got penalized.

I just counted my exchange through REW, which they sollicited me about six months ago. The exchange of links they proposed was about 40.
They are all gone now.
Bad faith. They could have told me if they needed to remove them. They didn't. Bad
