I dont have any problems with Rew, I dont use their link exchange but i do use them for web design. I think they build a great website. It is really easy to rank and very user friendly.

No, I believe Mert had to have been the one who pulled down his own info off his own property. Possibly some legal issues with it???

REW, lol you guys actually talk about those idiots. I'm not even going to tell you what I know. I'm too new to this forum and I dont want them thinking this forum is for REW rejects but that guy Morgan is some piece of work.

My question: by accepting candidly to do this "contextual links" exchange, that I removed time ago, could any site not hosted by REW be penalized by Google?

IDXSEOPRO;
yes and I try to encourage people to not beat up on REW as a primary thing to do. Frustrations are one thing but I don't want to have the forum known for its anti Morgan rhetoric.

SIDE NOTE:
In all honesty Morgan isn't an evil guy he's a business guy and some people in business practice differently even if in a way we don't like. We should encourage decency in our conduct toward each other since I believe it would best paint the picture we want colleagues to see. First impressions right?

hbnathan;
Contextual linking in some schemes is penalized regardless of where you harbor you site. The idea ultimately is that content is better than a basic link right, but some take the contextual linking to be a replacement for reciprocal linking which as mentioned in many places as being a bad thing for the most part.

I'm no SEO so I could be fully wrong.

IDXSEOPRO - Jared is right (except the evil part). We usually just discus REW when they have done something really outrageous or news worthy and as of late even their being outrageous is no longer news worthy. Just SOP.

hbnathan - Short answer is yes. Read Google's Webmaster Guidelines on linking in bad neighborhoods. Long answer is hopefully it won’t happen. Be sure you document any site changes in the event you need to seek reconsideration.
