Re: Google Rank Dropped!!
No they don't like recips, they like links that look like someone made it because your site was worth linking to, not because you paid them or traded links with them. They like one way inbound links that are not banner ads.
As to what tells google a link is natural instead of paid, I do not know.
Well.. I have a few ideas (ideas that seem to be working), but I think I'll keep them to myself.
I can't just tell you guys everything.

Re: Google Rank Dropped!!
I just can't agree with you on this one. There are certain sites that google knows if you have a link, you paid for it, your link will be devalued. There are sites that sell links but they don't advertise it, so google wouldn't know you purchased a link.
I purchase links for backlinks and traffic. I am very picky about links I purchase and the links that I have purchased show up as backlinks. This hasn't hurt my rankings in any way that I can tell. I did drop in the last week, but so did all my competitors.
What I have noticed is that Google is giving more value to major sites like Realtor.com, Trulia, Yahoo and your local newspapers. These sites knocked me out of the #5 spot and dropped me to the #8 spot for one of my key search phrases.
If you are going to purchase links, be selective!

Re: Google Rank Dropped!!
Tell me how Google can tell who is paying for a link and who is not? Many sites do advertise they are selling links, but there are many others that don't? So tell me how Google would know if I purchased a link on a site if there was nothing on the site that indicated they sold links and if they only had a few links on their homepage pointing away from their site?
I do agree that Google is going after sites that openly sell links!!!

There is an official name now called #6 penalty for these rank drops. Read all about it.

Re: Google Rank Dropped!!
I read several of the reports. A loose common thread is the sites appear to have been coasting on the SEO work. Many had not been adding backlinks. Just a thought.

Some people forget that this is a game of king of the hill. Being #1 means you are a target and have to keep up the game or pay the consequences.

Re: Google Rank Dropped!!
So far the reasons seem to be non varying anchor text to the most linked page on the site (home page that is).

Re: Google Rank Dropped!!
In my opinion this is not so strange , because i know that google don`t make changes everyday in sites rank. Even if you have a good site , with SEO perfectly it won`t be the first one in top imediately , but after some time google rank will increase and you will not drop so easy. Probably you don`t have a good SEO , or you just have better competitors.
