Question Will New Site with Old domain name be sandboxed?

Hey Guys,

I'm thinking about launching a new site with an OLD Domain name. I have had this domain for three plus years. However, it has never been live nor had any content.

Do you think I will be SANBOXED???

Yes or No?

I don't honestly believe so. When I go approached (and paid) to stop using JaredsDesigns.com by Jared's Jewelers I revived a few domains that now have a PR3 on average and index well.

Each site is on its own IP and I use them to generate one way traffic to my blogs on keywords I want to rank for.

Each domain was a little old and had been live at one time then put on the back burner for more than a year. But each are on different servers and each are ranking after just 4 months.

I'm convinced they wont be sandboxed at all.

I doubt it too. Insurance policy? 301 a backup domain (actually that non-kw, short-type domain you've always wanted) to your bread & butter (whatever). Acquire quality(think about it first) links to the 301. If disaster strikes, un-redirect and discover the ranking from 'less-is-better' and the little green bar that's always been there.

added: what the hell were you recip junkies (not directed to anyone specifically) thinking? Trying to house your family with no batteries in the smoke alarms? At least go buy batteries now, geez.

Yep my thoughts too on the 301. I've got a permanent one on my old domain and I think after time the old domain is removed from the Search Engines. Or at least I think they are.

Whoops, missed that. BINGO. I wouldn't know about the other side of the coin.

If it's never been live or had content/links, you will face the same sandbox that a brand spankin' new site would have.

When I get ideas for sites, I'll throw up a site w/ some content & do a very minimal link building campaign & then let it sit. That will get you out of the sandbox.

I saw another thread where you guys were debating link maturity - I'm a HUGE believer in link maturity, I think it's what the bulk of the "sandbox" actually is - waiting for links to mature. So...even with my minimal link campaigns to very basic sites, I still plan on working on the sites pretty hard when it's time to officially launch.

However....the sandbox is always relative to the competition for the keyword.

Case in point - I put up a Steiner Ranch (huge master planned community in Austin) site & it ranks #11 for "steiner ranch" after 3 weeks online (and about 100 backlinks.)

There is no sandbox.

Link authority, not link age.

I don't think it will help you at all being that you've had it for a few years and no content or anyone linking to it. I would recommend you use the URL that has the most number of quality, notice I said quality links to it.

Hope that helps!
