Google has been struggling with their highly publicized “Big Daddy” update for months now.
Google has recently acknowledged a “Big Daddy” bug.
The bug reportedly causes;
- Dropping of indexed pages/inconsistent indexing
- Dead 404 pages reappearing in the search results
Since the “Big Daddy” update I have also noticed some of the wildest PR ever. Just the other day I found a relatively new blog with 3 back links and few post with a PR8. I also see sites with an unusually low PR on their home page and much higher (or normal appearing) PR on their interior pages.
Clearly Google has some work to do on these problems and I am confident they are addressing these issues.
What concerns me is that I am in contact will several individuals that are making drastic changes or adjustments to their sites in an effort to regain their pre “Big Daddy” rankings.
I think we should all be careful about attempting to hit a moving target. Let Google stabilize BEFORE making serious changes to your site.
Stick with the basics. Add good content that is useful to the visitor and add relevant links.
Once Google gets all of the bugs out and all of the filters in place then you can make any major modifications if required.
