Default Real Estate Blog Flagged For Spam???

My blog, http://realestatevegas.blogspot.com/, has just been flagged for spam by Google. Apparently one of my competitors sent in a complaint about my blog.

I believe the blog has useful information about Las Vegas and the surrounding community. We provide links to our real estate sites but also to other useful websites dealing with the subject matter.

Google advised they would review the site and get back to us in a timely manner. I just wish there was a way to find out who filed the complaint. I work hard and spend numerous hours everyday with my webmaster to ensure that I am not doing anything that would be considered illegal, underhanded, or whatever the proper term may be. Wayne Griggs brought a few things to my attention that my webmaster was doing that could get you penalized with Google, so I corrected them right away.

It is sad when your websites or business becomes successful, there is always someone who is jealous and trys to bring you down.

Tony did they say what it was that caused the ban? I havent looked at your blog but will see if I notice anything. You are correct, as I mentioned to you when you start to succeed people / competitors are going to be looking at what you do more closely. Keep working hard and all will work out.

After looking at your blog I cant find anything wrong with it. I have not looked at the source code but from the outside it looks really nice. You are not spamming text links or anchor phrases. I am going to assume that the content on it is all unique that you wrote, is this correct?

The blog looks really professional and very elegant. What did google say was the problem?

I was advised that a competitor filed a complaint that our blog was spammy. Google advised they would review the blog within 24 hours and get back to me.

There was no further explanantion as to what was spammy about the blog. I do not see where anyone could get the idea that the blog is spammy, but thats me.

That doesnt sound right, Google doesnt notify you if there has been a complaint filed. It sounds like to me someone might be pulling your strings. I didnt see anything wrong with it but I havent looked that deep into it. As stated I think it looks very nice, but it was a mistake to use blogger. Maybe there is a different policy with blogger, maybe if someone reports a blogger site for spam google does notify you, I dont know.

I dont see it as ban or penalized, it has one page indexed in google and was just cached on Jan 16th. If it was ban that page wouldnt be indexed or cached. IMO

We received a reply back from google blogger that our site was not spammy and we could resume as normal.

I am still annoyed that a competitor complained about my blog, oh well, at least they recognized we were offering something of value.

I'd be half impressed if someone would tell me exactly what spammy blogs are.

Some people go nuts and put two, three, for or more links in every blog post pointing to different areas of their site. All of those links on hundreds or thousands of posts pointing to the same pages is the definition of spam.

Another thing they do is put way too many links in the sidebar of the blog pointing to pages in their site.

You don't need links in every post. Putting a few links in every 5 or 10 posts works just fine.
