Default Building Diverse Links to Many Pages of your site

I was wondering, I am building links to many different pages of my site. I have quite a number of links coming from the same domain to my main page, but virtually non coming to my internal pages from that domain. If some of my internal pages started getting links from that domain as well, would it really be all that helpful, (everything else being the same of course). The domain is a quality, Authoritative Domain which the links are coming from. My main page probably has 25% of its links coming from that domain.

Use forum sig, blogs, social networks and point to your internal pages. Directories are also good, but mostly accepts only home page.

Jim you will only get so much credit from linking in such a fashion other than possibly raising your allinanchor ranking.

This type of linking strategy is also dangerous. If this domain triggers a penalty or is banned you run the gambit of really taking a major hit. So you are placing a bet on this domain with 25% of your business. Now that is a decision that only you can make.

In answering one of your questions from another thread I suggested you start your own blog on your own domain in my PM (nothing private there – just a quick note).

HHI Golf Guy has been preaching about writing good content and good article exchanges in this forum for years. Some times I think I am the only one that listens.

Most of our Members still don’t get it. It is quality, not quantity. We will sit in front of our computer all day building links but we won’t spend an extra 15 minutes on a good forum post or a hour on an interesting blog post that will attract links.

One of my clients has 3 times more posts in this forum than I do but has many more back links from my post and still writes 1 liners or “good idea” type of posts. HELLO!! Anybody home?

I watch in horror at a thread that I started last night steadily drop in Google as a few short replies were posted behind me that if viewed by themselves were ill-defined and vague as to any specific topic.

We need to work smarter, not harder.

It is quality, not quantity.

I agree and it seems that people want a shortcut or at least thats the perception.

Mack and I have discussed this many times regarding the importance of well articulated informative content on sites and we both agree that blogs are one of the absolute best vehicles for publishing this content.

I'd add this James, I'd say that with a blog you achieve higher perceived credibility, greater likeliness of providing link bait, and higher mobility for cross linking with tools like WordPress that can provide means for tracking relative or similar content.

Links in forums then should be in the content rather than just the signature where you could link to specific articles within your blog. But as Mack said its not one people should put all their hopes in. When a site gets penalized it can have recursive consequences. Its a reciprocal process even though its not a reciprocal linking process if that makes sense.

To add to what Jared said about putting all of you eggs in one basket, Jared and I were talking last night.

Folks just don’t get this linking in bad neighborhoods thing. It isn’t just your link to or from them that counts. It is everyone that they are linked to. That is the “neighborhood”. It is a great deal like intimacy. When you have a one night stand it is not just 1 person that you slept with. It could be hundreds. Now that one person could have only a few partners but one of those partners could have slept with the entire senior class. You get the idea. (Please note that I have intentionally avoided spam trigger words.)

Back to your original question.

Links to internal pages on your site are good.

My suggestion is to start that blog on your domain. Write really interesting posts that will attract links. Tie in your blog post to one of your internal pages if you can keep it on topic.

Example: Do a REALLY GOOD blog post on “Federal Reserve Lowers Interest Rates”. In that post explain how this will affect the sale of existing Summit New Jersey homes and how reduced inventory will affect the Summit NJ Real Estate market.

Now I would suggest using only 1 link in a 300 – 500 word blog post going back to your internal page. But that is just my opinion. This takes the most of the link juice to your blog post and sends it to that 1 internal page.

I would love to hear HHI Golf Guy chime in on this one. He is far more knowledgeable that I am on the subject of linking.

Mach, Sent a PM to you on this as well.

As far as the blogging, I have 2 WP blogs at this point, both are hosted on their own domains, but have links in the blog role as well as many of the posts to my main website jboyerhomes.com as well as many interior pages such as jboyerhomes.com/Summit.php.

Tell me if I am wrong but I had preferred to keep the blogs separate from the main site so that the blog would not be sub to the site, as well as so that they would be able to pass more link love over to my main site, since the main site does not link to them.

Is that a bad strategy, worse than having one of the blogs as a on site blog? This is one of the blogs Convent Station Real Estate It is only a PR0 right now but not that old.

I would do both Jim.

If I remember correctly HHI Gulf Guy said that as long as you keep a consistent theme and stay on topic with your blog you are OK to have a blog as a subdirectory and it builds content and back links to your site.

Proof of this would be your hosting company. Agents are furnishing them with a great deal of fresh content.

Now we all hope for the best but should plan for the worst. If you were banned by your hosting/template company would they leave all links to your website intact? We already know for a fact that you automatically lose ALL links in your Forum Signature. That by itself can severely hinder rankings and was the reason this forum came into being.

Since only so many inbound links from the same domain are considered to be beneficial in the ranking algorithm anyway why not apply your efforts to something that you are sure you will remain in control of?

That is all true Mack, and to that end I have been writing articles, 8 published to date on many different article sites,

I have 2 WP blogs hosted on their own domains
the REW blogs on their domain
Active Rain, Which I hate now, and do not contribute to much
and a few other things>>
open to suggestions of other things I can do..

A third WP blog hosted on its own domain as well.

I guess I could bring one of the existing blogs over to being a sub domain to my main domain, Morristown Real Estate, Madison NJ Real Estate, Chatham NJ Real Estate, Summit NJ Real Estate then www.jboyerhomes.com/conventnews.org would it be?? Is there really any benefit to taking a existing blog and making is sub to my current website??

I have been wanting to start my own blog and thought it was better to do one separate from my main website and then I could link to my main site from the blog. Isn't that better than just having a blog within my website? So I'm wondering why you suggested having a blog within your website?

Oh also, I am trying to figure out if I should use something like Wordpress for a blog or I've seen some really nicely designed blogs by Realestatetomoato and rsspieces - but those 2 companies really charge alot for their blogs - and I am not sure why they're worth it? The only benefit I can see is that if you use their blog services, then they'll link to your blog site - so at least it gives you another link. So I'm open to hearing suggestions on blog software to use.
