Well I have found by turning off the ability to reply to a blog post has cut down on some of the spam on my blogs but I still get some.

LVH you know what I've been doing is allowing posts but activating an Akismet in my WP admin panel. You need a activation key and if you don't want to mess with it I'll do it for you. Takes me maybe 5 minutes to set it up for you.

Askimet does and INCREDIBLE job. In the past week alone Askimet has intercepted almost 600 spam posts on my blog. Before I installed it I would have received email notifications to approve or deny those posts.

Askimet - don't host a blog without it!

Or you could just turn off the email notifies and have them auto go into moderation.
