Confessions of a forum spam guru!
One of the people I do some forum moderation for revealed to me that back when he was in the satellite and cell phone business, that he hired companies in China and India and sometimes in Russia to write algorithms to bulk post affiliate ads and posts in forums to the tune of 1.5 million a month. Then the following month they change the IP and start all over again. The cost as revealed to me was about $1500 per month. The results were staggering.
My take on SPAM knowing what I know is that it works or people would not be using it. 1.5 million spam postings across the web for one major player proves it. But SPAM would not work if people didn't click on it or be foolish enough to actually answer it in emails.
Some of my favorites I've gotten recently.
Dear PayPal Customer: which the email goes on to ask me my details which I generously provide a full array of bogus details and then report it to PayPal.
Make $6000 a month blogging, $29.95 for plans. Yeah right, I'd sell that info for $30 too. Better yet, make $10 million in three hours, plans only $9.95. Only an idiot would believe a person would teach such things for so little.

why people even believe such nonsense is beyond me
