Starting up.
I've been told that it's a good idea to have 6 months worth of income saved up before starting as an RE agent. I don't have that kind of savings and I can't afford to be without an income for any initial extended length of time. Are there any brokers that pay a base salary to get you started? What are the keys to starting without any money? Can it be done successfully?

Many brokerages pay a small salary ($20k-$25k annualized) for a period of 3-12 months. During that period, you can earn commissions at a reduced rate. Most likely you need to commit to a 1-2 year contract as a full time agent.
Usually you find a deal like this at the larger real estate firms. They also usually supply a good deal of training before you show your first property or take your first listing.

Las Vegas...having a base is nice...However having pre-qualified leads provided to you daily is another way of having a base...usually the larger firms DO NOT have a lead system other than your own network! I would much prefer to have the leads provided!!!!! Then the sky is the limit!

None of the firms here in Oregon provides any leads nor base. So it's really tough. However, the more reputable commercial firms tend to pair you up with a big cheese as assistant where they'll feed you some crumbs. I know a guy who earns $250k in his first year.

Portland RE, so your saying if you work with a high producer, you will more than likely work with his overflow of business?
