That's right - we're propping up their economy will they keep pegging their currency against our dollar. But don't forget, the Chinese government has invested heavily in our country, especially in Treasuries and currency.
The scary part is that there are many reports that China has recently been developing and building a lot of new military hardware.
There's a great book out there, The China Threat that paints a pretty scary picture of China. It's a very interesting read.

I agree with most everything said thus far. While I find it intriging to invest over seas, I am also a bit leary. For now, I think that I will stay to what I know best, and that is the Las Vegas home market! Thanks for the offer though Sarah, and keep us updated

China real estate I believe is pretty expensive..
this is unrelated to china, but even in the philippines Real Estate are pricey..
but people still buy them. I know of many areas my friends are building in the Island for over $1 million (ya dollars) and people buy them.

China since ancient times love being in the spotlight of Power ..whether local, regional or world power. China is doing what any nation would do to protect it's people and interest, build it's military force and upgrade it's hardware to counter any threats. China's expense on military in comparison to the US, is very very tiny. China want's to have more world influence I say let them..
hell cut off World funding to the UN, spend those money domestically.
Don't you just admire Costa Rica, they cut spending on Military, invested that on useful things like tech, schools and people and it's paying off.

But I don't think Costa Rica has to worry about insane North Korean dictators and radical Islamic militants hell bent on destroying their country

Re: Would you invest in China?
I would, China is one country with the fastest growing economy. They're improving alot now. I know several foreigners investing in this country. Culture and language will only be a slight problem, it's actually a challenge for investors like you. I've been to China, several cities, and I have recognized that chinese living in the city speaks not so good english but atleast you will be able to understand them. Chinese in the provinces of china does not speak any english, so if I will invest in China? I will, in the city not in provinces.
