Weather effect on markets?
Curious about how the blizzard conditions are effecting the market in warmer climates? Any spike in buyers?

Well, here in the Las Vegas real estate market, we are well-known for great weather! I think that a arm climate will always attract many buyers, especially second and third home buyers, as well as retirees. There have been thousands of people moving here/ yr for a long time now, and the pace does not seem to be slowing down a bit!

In Portland, we did slow down when the rain just wouldn't let up for the last two months. Seriously, it was constant rain for over 60 days straight. I was just about to pack and move to Hawaii already. Then the sun came out last week. Hurry, more calls, more buyers. Then we're about to face the coldest winter ever in Oregon this weekend. Man!

You said it Las Vegas Real Estate, here in the Las Vegas real estate market, we typically have great weather year-round! I would imagine, however, that climate and weather fluctuations would have to make an impact on the real estate market. When it is warm and condusive, people seem much more likely to buy, espcially a second or third home!

Yes, I would have to say that blizzard markets would only be positive for warm-climate ones. For example, here in the Las Vegas real estate market we get many snow birds from other states, along with retirees and people who simply want an all around more stable/ predictable climate  |
