As expected, the Fed raised interest rates on June 30 by a quarter-point from 3% to 3.25%, the ninth such increase since the central bank embarked on the current credit-tightening campaign last June. The move will raise costs for a wide variety of business and consumer loans.

I believe that we will see interest rates for real estate mortgages increase until the next presidential election. This will cause the real estate market to slow somewhat and may even cause a few markets to see a decline in home values in the next 12 to 18 months.
