Before this gets out of hand, we should all bow out and leave this matter be for now.

Actually you will notice that I did not give them a live link, and I would ask that the live link you just posted be removed. That being said, I have already called the website owner and left a message, they are in my province, just a ferry ride away, and if that forum is not taken down within 48 hours (Not including the weekend) they will be sent a C/D from our lawyers

I see no reason to make special allowances for banned members that I feel were justifiably banned. Everyone gets the same ban, this situation is not unique to you.

Yes everyone that you have banned gets the same treatment by your removing what the efforts of their time and labor yield...their back links. This is a practice that isn’t necessary and is done ONLY for spite. You of all people know exactly what losing hundreds of back links does to search engine rankings. That is why you use it as a weapon against those that offend you, and a threat against those that would challenge you.

Thank you for the clarification Morgan.

It’s OK Morgan. We all have bad days and say and do unintentional things.

Your being too vague again Morgan. Please be specific. I am unaware of any titles or descriptions that were copied. I can’t fix it if I don’t know what is broken.

Now we are getting somewhere Morgan. We have reached common ground. I have admitted that those 2 categories were identical to yours and although they were inadvertently copied I have changed them and apologized.

Now that is just not accurate Morgan. There are and have been distinct differences in the forum structure.

The 2 catagory names listed above have never had descriptions in REWM and still don’t as of 10 minutes ago, so it would be impossible to copy them.

Although I disagree with you on this point, I am willing to make any reasonable changes. Just please be specific about what would calm you down and if it is reasonable, I am willing to make the changes.

If the unintentional duplication of 2 Categories tags me as a copycat, then so be it. You are right about being exposed though. Your just wrong about who, and for what.

It is not done for spite - 99.9 of all bans performed are because a fly by night spammer has come and posted a link to solicit, or try to get free backlinks. The "check out this link" type of post. These sites are all garbage, and many of them violate SE's TOS thus having their signatures and links dissabled upon ban dissabled makes perfect sense, not doing so could place our sites status and rankings in jeopardy. For this reason, I have never questioned, or been questioned on the banning standard which as I said was built in to vB I havent changed it.
Changing this setting would allow spammers to achieve their goal, got a link up, so what if I was banned I was only there to post my link anyways. It is not spite, just common sense, and I dont use it to bully people. Our rules are very clear and unaltered they are as follows.
Welcome to all realtors, those with real estate questions and webmasters promoting real estate websites.
We encourage the sharing of ideas and all questions about real estate web development but we ask that you observe these few rules
#1. Be respectful of other members regardless of difference of opinion. (No profanity or name calling)
#2. No more than 3 links per signature.
#3. Do not post off topic in a thread, if your comment is not relevant to a thread, please start a new thread within the most relevant forum for the topic.
#4. REW will not tolerate any other member stealing (Borrowing) intellectual property or website content without expressed written permission of the owner of said property. You will be given the opportunity to provide such documentation of permission however failure to provide such proof is subject to lifetime ban.
#5. Member poaching - There is to be no diverting members of this forum to other competing real estate forums to answer questions that can easily be answered here. Recruiting our members to other forums is strictly forbidden. If you are simply here to promote your own forum, then please leave as you will be banned for doing so.
#6. have fun
You were banned for definite breaking of rule #4 it was very clear cut. I have not altered these rules in any way since this incident as is evident in the google cache from June 25th http://64.233.161.104/search?sourcei...hread2092.html
You broke the rules that are clearly stated as the very first post, in the very first forum, which clearly identified the policy that a ban would result from such action. how is this bullying?

Neodemesne Rules:

Welcome to the Neodemesne Forum where anything Real Estate is the topic of discussion.
At the outset I don't intend to list all the do's and don'ts.
They can be read in all the BBs on the internet.
As adults, I think we all know what is expected in terms of proper etiquette.
Any content that I deem to be unfit will be removed at my discretion.
Avatars are enabled, to the extent that they are linked to from another online location. They can be no greater in size than 90px X 90px and animated avatars are not allowed. Avatars may not be lewd, pornographic or offensive in any way and I will be censoring based on what I personally find offensive.
Please refrain from posting links to other sites without the express approval of Neodemesne admin. There is a section in the profiles for a url if you have a website. Please make use of it.
Exception: We now have a forum devoted to YOU. Promote yourselves!
Please, keep the posts related to RE in some way. We're easy going, but any offensive or inappropriate links will be removed.
Treat each other with kindness and respect in an atmosphere of mutual appreciation and we will have a productive and insightful discussion forum.
We are always open to suggestions for specific topic categories.
|
I have yet to have a request to post a link. But I have never needed to make it an issue.
I believe this is largely because I provide a "Promote Yourself" section, rather than be all paranoid about backlinks and competition. If someone posts at the wrong spot, the post is easily relocated. If the content is unrelated to Real Estate, which is unusual, the post disappears. Banning is rarely done at our forum, and the banned party isn't advertised as banned, they just don't exist anymore.
I am put in mind of the grocery store with the list of people who bounced a check in plain view, the intention being to humiliate and the motivation being spite.
webmaster, you are within your rights to take whatever action you like for whatever reasons you like.
Why keep pushing the issue? Have you ever posted at Mack's forum before tonight? Judging from your post count, I would say not.
We have a holiday coming up. Enjoy your weekend and don't fret about this anymore.
Cyberspace is plenty big for all of us.
Best of Success to all!

Morgan,
We still disagree about my stealing any content or intellectual property of yours.
My God man, all you had to do was contact me and I would have changed the 2 categories in question. But instead you chose arbitrarily ban me and Al and remove our back links. In which Al had NO part in.
Al and I were NOT the one post wonders spammers you mentioned, and we all know you are capable of banning without removing the links in the signature. So I don’t think anyone is buying that one.
Additionally, I have not solicited Members from your Forum, but have been responsible for several Members joining your forum.
You were angry and you over reacted and even as much as admitted so in your email to me. You went on to say:
Quote:
|
Yourself, and any moderators or admin's of your forum will no longer be permitted to post on REW as #1 you have created a conflict of interest by copying my forum, and #2 I sincerely feel you have infringed on my intellectual property.
|
This whole ordeal is a bit over kill from the beginning IMHO.
I think you should cool down before discussing this further.
