Here is my opinion on that matter:

Copying content from other sites is something that should never be done without the permission of the one who has created/owns the content.

Anyone has a right to be upset and then take actions such as remove the one who has violated that rule from his/her own community and that is more than understandable.

Whoever owns a site does have responsibility as well as the right to "refuse service to ANYONE" and there is nothing anyone should say about Morgan's decision on holding those who have copied his content accountable.

NOW:

If I didn't notice the copying, I doubt anyone else did. Of course Morgan did because he wrote it (if someone copied me, I would notice).

About the moderator issues:

I have had way too many moderators. When members of Digitalpoint (especially Wayne) asked Shawn to add a Real Estate section and he refused to do so, I have decided to start a forum of my own and have received great support from Wayne and Mack. Lateron there was a falling out between those 2 and I have made a decision that I regret or rather look at it differently now.

My mistake was to let people unfluence me and those days are done.

Morgan has never had a problem like that and I like that.

Since we are talking about forgiveness, let me add:

Forgive and you shall be forgiven! (Al and Mack, you know who I am talking about!)

I have chosen 2 as my super moderators which are Matt Pellerin (Phoenix Homes) and HHI Golf Guy (Shawn). Those 2 choices were mine and I take the election of Super moderators VERY seriously.

If we in this beginning phase of the real internet boom that is yet to happen argue with each others, we will all be hurt.

The market is wide open and there is so much more business coming our way and united we can all move into the new era as forerunners making history.

I have noticed the apologetic behaviour of some members of various forums for joining here and I see Josh's (STVP's) point of view.

Mack,
I have never changed the banning settings on my vB nor did I do anything different with your ban, than any other banned members. I simply looked up your username chose ban. My intent was not to harm, my intent was to ban (The same way I ban everyone else) which as you said you have no problem with and is my perogative. I see no reason to make special allowances for banned members that I feel were justifiably banned. Everyone gets the same ban, this situation is not unique to you.

STVP
As for casting threats - I mistakenly at first assumed that those moderators of the forum had something to do with its creation. My post should have read - "Those responsible for the website will no longer be welcome here" - I did not ban any members of REWM for participating at that forum, nor did I mean to imply that I would. I left the post unedited except for spelling so that what you are referencing could be read.

I will post here and keep it on record - but will edit afterwards so that future members dont think that this is my position.

I originally said

Quote:
Just so everyone knows, if you moderate a forum or (especially) administrate a forum that is nothing more than a rippoff of REW forums you will no longer be welcome here.
And later

Quote:
I'm not asking you to boycot useful information, I saying that willingly participating in websites that commit theft can cost you your membership.
I can only assume these are the 2 bullying posts you were referring to. I will ammend as that was not my intent and probably should have waiting until I was thinking clearer before I posted. I will admit my first 2 pages of posts were posted in a very frusterated state of mind.

As for intellectual property specifics, there were descriptions and titles unique to REW that were copied

You are right, I dont own domain over "web design" or "search engines" as category or forum names but my names were

Real Estate and Search Engines
Real Estate and Web Design

Copied verbatim, with the substructes in identicle order as my forum, along with forum descriptions that were copied as well. Descriptions that I wrote, and do not occur anywhere else on the web. In fact (Although I would not waste the time doing the research) I would venture to guess that my forum was the first to use the exact category names used above as well as my descriptions. If you would like to find them to disprove me, I will happily admit that I did not do a thurough check.

I do still think that the structure (Although you have renamed the forums) is a ripoff of my structure, and am not satisfied with the changes you have made, I am satisfied that this forum's creation has been exposed for what it is (A copycat) and if you are able to make it work for you, there truly isnt a lot that I can do.

Hey bro, when the blood boils it boils ya know. I think there are alot of people that respect what your doing and will continue to with that statement. So on that note everyone maybe we can chalk this whole thing up as a loss and move on.

I mean think of it this way. Just this very moment I searched for one of my unique descriptions and came across this forum (0 posts but it was in google)

best-mortgage.ca/forum_eng/

Compare it side by side with REW and put yourself in my shoes. The situation was no different. Yes there are a few forums they have added that I dont have, but seriously Look at their very first forum "Ask an Agent" then read the description. Then go to http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/...rketplace.html

Where am I at fault for having a problem with this, or calling it intellectual property theft?
