It is an honor to have the great Jay Griffin here by the way ladies and gentlemen. Sorry I can not be involved with conversations in REW Jay as I also got sadly banned by Morgan (for questioning content link exchange strategies he lately implemented) but follow your comments closely.
I fully agree with the whole advice. The problem we have with us the local sites is that we do real estate and we are local. As I made a humorous joke in my latest blog piece on
Real Estate Webmasters and Google the issue is that reciprocal linking outside the link farm tactics is sort of becoming like the illegal drug trade. Google will bust some and not the others. My site is one of the busted ones due to association with REW in the past. The issue is how to get links to a real estate site. I mean what deems us interesting as a real estate site. Jim Messenger talks about link baiting to sell his blogcentric websites and I respect that but how many good realtors are that creative writers or even have the time to do that type of writing which is interesting and link baitable??? I mind you the types of Andy Hagans charges thousands of dollars for a real link baiter. Do you see our dillemma?
