Terry, there is all kinds a crap like that posted about me on REW.
But seriously, if you look at the pieces individually, I guess it's easy to see some doubt. Clearly Shaw Communications (The Owner of the IP in question) uses a dynamic IP system, so there isn't anyway to tie the IP directly to Morgan. But you can clearly tie Morgan and his staff to that ISP, so that much is fact.
And it is also true that it might be possible to find an open proxy somewhere on that network that could be used to leave an incriminating IP in the moderator action log. But that scenario doesn't account for the password access. We know that Morgan and his staff use the ISP in question, and we also know that Mert was both a forum member and a client of REW, and during that time he used the same password on their system that he used here.
Based on that, the only logical conclusion you could draw that would discount all that circumstantial evidence would be that Mert has conspired to intentionally frame Morgan. [He could have given his login info to one of a million Canadians who use Morgan's ISP and then instructed them as to what specific threads to delete. It would be the perfect frame.]
However, Morgan's complete public silence on the matter, makes me doubt that such a scenario is plausible. Someone who would take the time to make public threats of litigation over copied forum names, and then show up hear and invest hours of time posting defenses of his actions just doesn't strike me as someone who would sit back and be silent if he was being accused of what might be a serious criminal offense. Instead, I would think he would be hear (or somewhere) proclaiming his innocence.
Instead, he's locked himself in his private bunker and is keeping his mouth shut while he and his staff actively monitor ever forum and blog post on the topic. (I know this because I've been getting visitors to my blog from Morgan's ISP who show up via a referral from Morgan's private forum)
Now if I was a juror looking at all that, it would be hard to acquit. Especially when the defense hasn't even attempted to make the "Mert framed me" argument.
